I look at how policy, healthcare, and our social structure are interconnected, particularly how structural and institutional racism shape health and healthcare systems. I’ve conducted research on a variety of topics, including the healthcare safety net, social structural inequities and impacts on aging, Medicaid, long-term care, access to healthcare for minority populations, diversity in medical education, and the healthcare workforce.

I have an MD and a PhD in health policy and management, meaning I’ll be a student forever.  I find pretty much everything interesting, from California history to groundwater management to the sociology of other disciplines to YA fantasy fiction to the organizing power of BTS ARMY.
